4/11/2010 Quillabamba

We left Cusco and drove to Quillabamba arriving late at night. Early the next morning or Sunday we drove to Echirate and attended their branch meetings. Then we drove back to Quillabamba where at 2:00 the president started

Zone conference and interviewed each missionary. Quillabamba is very beautiful. The jungle at the base of the Andes mountains. We were very lucky that it was cool for Quillabamba.

Sister Tyler taught the English speaking missionaries in Spanish and the Spanish missionaries in English the song Head shoulders knees and toes.

The setting of Quillabamba from our hotel balcony. At 7:00 we headed back to Urubamba before they closed the road at Ollantaytambo. Quillabamba is beautiful and they have a beautiful chapel but I hate the ride of some six hours getting there of which at least two of the hours is a dirt road and there was fog and it was night so that we couldn't see the cliffs where it drops down a thousand or more feet. We went over the pass that is just over 14,000 feet in elevation and we stopped there to see a gadzillon millon stars with the milky way and the southern cross.

Inka Shops
There are hundreds and hundreds of little vendors selling their wares from clothing, dolls, purses, jewelry etc. We didn't buy anything but got a good idea of some of the things that they have.

Highway

Highway
One of many highways in Lima. This is Avenida Arequipa that runs north and south. Maybe 9-10 blocks from our apartment. During rush hour this road will be packed.

On our P-day we went to Miraflores and ate at a fantastic restaurant just above the cliff. The tall building in the background is the Marriott hotel. The name of the restaurant was Mangos. It was buffet.
